Overview
The RADx MARS FHIR standard was developed in collaboration with the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology(ONC). It was balloted by the HL7 community, resulting in an official FHIR implementation guide published on the HL7 website: At-Home In-Vitro Test Report. See the Getting Started page for guidance on implementing FHIR-based reporting.
At this time, US public health systems generally do not support FHIR-based reporting. While that is expected to change in the future, current implementation of public health reporting should leverage HL7v2.
In the future, the MARS FHIR standard may also enable reporting of at-home test results into electronic healthcare record (EHR) systems.
