Biography

Dr. Taylor is the Associate Director for Research Administration, NIBIB, where she oversees the NIBIB National Advisory Council, the Office of Grants Management, the Office of Scientific Review, as well as receipt and referral, NIH Guide, human subjects policy, and committee management activities in support of the NIBIB mission.  Anna comes to the NIBIB bringing a wealth of experience she gained during her 17 years at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), where she served in several roles, most recently as the Acting Deputy Director for Extramural Activities.

Anna joined the NIH as an AAAS Science & Technology Policy Fellow, where she applied qualitative and quantitative approaches to the analysis of institute programs and expenditures, informing policy decisions and programmatic investments.  Following her fellowship, Anna joined the NINDS Division of Extramural Activities where, during her time, she worked in Program, led the Grants Management Branch, and led the Office of Research Operations and Analysis, which she established.

Anna earned her B.S. and M.S. in Molecular Biology and Microbiology from the University of Central Florida, and a Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Anatomy from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine.  Her graduate and postdoctoral research produced new and surprising insights into non-neuronal contributions to motoneuron viability during development and injury response.
